Cilles AC Youth Program

 

What is the Youth Programme ?

Cilles AC Youth  programme is an initiative by Cilles Athletic Club. The Youth programme is aimed at youths aged 13-19 who would like to get fit in a fun, non-competitive environment

 

Want is the aim of the Youth Programme?

  • Instilling and helping to foster an  awareness of fitness and enjoyment of running over a set period of weeks,

  • The aim of  building up to 5K in a ‘Learning to Run’ programme

  • Paced and carefully monitored, while increasing in incremental distances throughout the programme

  • Helping to nurture a positive attitude to health and fitness that will become a life skill

  • Encouraging participants who may naturally have developed an interest/ aptitude with a more structured approach, or a particular event that best meets their needs

Who can take Part?

The Youth programme is aimed at youths aged 13-19 and all within that age group can participate in the programme. regardless of current fitness level

 

When?

Youths meet every Monday and Wednesday with optional Saturday morning sessions

 

Where?

Laytown, Runs will be on the coast road or at the seafield playing fields and may change during the program, we meet at the pitches in Seafield across the bridge.

 

What time?

6:30pm sharp. Warm up session followed by jog/run and then a Strength and Conditioning session with stretching

 

How long does it last?

  • Sessions will initially last about 90 minutes 

  • Do not worry this includes warmup routines, resting and stretching at the end, you wont be running for the full 90 min at any stage

 

What do I need ?

  • Bring a pair of runners

  • Bring comfortable warm clothing

  • Bring a drink 

 

How much does it cost?

The cost of annual membership of Cilles Athletic Club is €75 for youths under 18s. Please download and complete the membership form on this page

  • Membership runs from 1st January to 31st December each year

 

What do I get for my money?

  • Insurance cover when taking part in any Athletics Ireland event or organised club activity.

  • Organised weekly training sessions with plenty of advice, encouragement and training tips

  • Access to participate in the other running training programmes and athletic events (long jump , Javelin etc)

  • Exercise in a safe, friendly and fun environment

  • You become a member of this athletic club and can take part in club events

  • When the initial program completes,  you are welcome to participate in the 3 weekly juvenile sessions that are held

  • Experienced coaches who have received Garda clearance and have completed Athletics Ireland child protection and welfare courses

Please Note: All participants must complete both the membership form and the attached medical assessment form before they start. Please print and bring it with you or deliver to a committee member in advance. Anybody who isn't currently engaged in regular exercise must consult their doctor before starting this programme.
